5th grade students are learning more about the concept of supply and demand as well as the importance of trade by participating in the International Trade Game.  The class was divided into 6 different countries, and given an envelope of supplies.  The envelopes contained different supplies based on if the country was rich, middle-income, or low-income. Students are required to trade in order to make as much money as they can.  (They had to figure this out on their own, directions were minimal). The goal is for students to manufacture shapes and make as much money as they can for their country.  One student served as the trader, giving the countries the correct amount of money for the size and quality of the shapes they created.
