ILMS 7th grader Caleb Altstaetter recently earned Honorable Mention in the statewide E-3 Smart Energy Program Logo Contest. The challenge was offered through the Ohio Electric Cooperatives and the Ohio Energy Project.
Altstaetter submitted his design promoting energy savings after learning about the contest in Jana Core's science class. Core uses the E-3 Smart Energy Efficiency STEM curriculum yearly to focus on energy impact and how everyday energy consumption contributes to a larger community footprint.
Altstaetter's design encourages smart usage saying: "Your energy should get to sleep, too! Unplug!"
The annual Youth Energy Celebration was cancelled this year because or corona virus health concerns. The event, recognizing schools and students for their contribution to energy education, normally takes place in May at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
