Indian Lake Middle School is celebrating a quarter century of honoring academic excellence, near perfect attendance and positive attitudes.
School administrators welcomed 22 new members into the ILMS Academic Hall of Fame during the 25th Annual Induction Ceremony recently.
Inductees who are now 9th graders in
the Class of 2023 were honored. They are: Stephanie Altstaetter, Rachel Barnes, Sierra DeWeese, Madalene Gutierrez, Jonathan Henry, Heidi Hoffman, Tori Hurley, Jessica Jacobs, Megan Kimbler, Rece Kimmel, Emma King, Allison Kinney, Gavin Lones, Meadow McCullough, Paige Mefford, Isaac Morrison, Brant Parsell, Grace Pequignot, Katelyn Pippin, Marah Reames, Regan Ross and Mason Swygart.
Their parents and siblings were on-hand for the program held in front of the entire ILMS student body.  Not only is the assembly an effort to highlight student achievement, it is also an opportunity for Hall of Fame Inductees to thank special ILMS staff members who helped them during their middle school career.
In order to qualify for the Hall of Fame students must maintain a 3.8 grade point average while at ILMS, maintain a 98% attendance rate, be enrolled 70% of the semesters during their 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade years and not be an excessive discipline problem at school. Co-Principals Missy Mefford and Erin Miller each commended the parents and families for their involvement with their students and their commitment to education.
Mefford, who is the mother of an inductee, challenged the study body to follow in their footsteps saying, "There were days when they didn't want to be here or they didn't feel so well. But they chose to be here. They chose to do their homework, they chose to get involved in activities. They chose to be elite and be the best version of themselves. I want you to be the best version of you."
A reception for inductees and families was held in the ILMS Cafeteria after the ceremony. This is the 25th class inducted into the ILMS Acamedic Hall of Fame. Their pictures will be featured in the trophy case this year and hang in the school for years to come.
