The ILMS Robotics teams competed recently in the First Lego League Robotics scrimmage at the Honda Anna Engine Plant. More than 15 teams from several area schools participated in the friendly competition, which included team building exercises and other fun activities.
Indian Lake has two teams- "The Lake Rats" coached by Marna Salmons and "The Robo Lego Geek Squad" coached by Jana Core.
Core says the best part of the scrimmage is the camaraderie.
"The neatest thing is the kids talk to the other teams and make friends. Then they share ideas to make their robots even better. "
For the first time, teams got to try out this year's "City Scape" mission where they are tasked with improving a public space with their robot. Each team got feedback from the judges that they can use to practice over the next few weeks before the competition season begins.
