7th Grade Logan County Career Day

Seventh graders from Indian Lake, Bellefontaine, Ben Logan, West Liberty and host Riverside Schools all had the opportunity recently to talk with dozens of professionals working right here in Logan County during the Fifth Annual Logan County Career Day. The Midwest Regional Educational Service center organizes the event in conjunction with the Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce. Extensive career exploration is now an important part of the required curriculum for middle school students.
The goal of Career Day is for students to get hands-on exposure to local occupations, including many positions that they've never considered.
At the event, students had the chance to ask questions and get to know local people working in the areas of pharmacy, construction, engineering, law enforcement, firefighting, automotive, agriculture, cosmetology, sports therapy, various medical fields and more. Students from Indian Lake Middle School were assigned to explore at least seven different areas of interest. Students then interviewed the representatives, asking about typical work days, required education and what is enjoyable about the job.
