ILMS fifth graders are getting a lot of practical lessons during this year's Life Skills sessions. Nurse Kourtney Thompson led a recent class that focused on how students can help prevent the spread of illness. Nurse Kourtney rubbed glitter on her hands to represent germs, then shook hands with several students. The glitter transferred to their hands, the same way germs spread. Then they practiced washing their hands for at least 20-seconds to get rid of the germs and stop the spread of sicknesses.
The Like Skills class is a new part of the Related Arts rotation for fifth graders to introduce them to concepts like health and hygiene, setting goals and growth mindset and more. It is being led by ILMS Co-Principal Mrs. Erin Miller, Guidance Counselor Mandy Tidwell and other special guests.
