ILMS 6th graders are learning about expending energy in a series of exciting extension activities.
They recently conducted Rollercoaster Marble Challenge, where students used different sized marbles and a piece of foam tubing in Mrs. Christina Fullerton's science classes.
The students worked in teams to experiment with potential and kinetic energy. They were challenged to figure out how to send the small marbles and large marbles over hills and through loops in the tubing with out ever leaving the surface of the tube. Then they had to demonstrate their solutions to the instructors and explain why those scenarios worked. What a ride!
