Indian Lake Middle School 8th graders got to explore historic places they've been learning about this quarter when they toured the Ohio Statehouse in downtown Columbus recently. ILMS Co-Principal Missy Mefford says they participated in a guided tour, explored both the House and Senate Chambers, learned about all 3 branches of state government and asked a lot of questions.
The Statehouse visit is in line with 8th grade social studies curriculum and gives the students a preview of the kinds of buildings and monuments they will see if they participate in the annual trip to Washington, D.C. in the spring.
ILMS received a Statehouse Transportation grant to pay for the field trip.
