Missy Mefford

Middle School Co-Principal

I graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education in 2003.  I earned my Master's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Dayton in 2009.  I began my teaching career at Edgewood High School in Trenton, Ohio, where I taught for 7 years.  I also coached their women's and men's volleyball teams.  This is my 12th year at Indian Lake.

As Co-Principal, my job entails many facets.  I am responsible for tracking student attendance and behavior throughout the school year.  I try to be as honest and fair as possible when it comes to what is in the best interest of the students here at ILMS.  My responsibilities also include field manager at MS sporting events, school security and safety and maintaining an operational building budget.  I serve as a liaison between students and staff.  I also assist with staff evaluations and building planning each school year.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, boating and camping.  My husband and I met while we were both serving in the US Army.  He is from Wyoming, so we often travel out west to see his family.  We have 3 children. Cole graduated from ILHS in 2018 and is a senior at Ohio Northern University, Lane graduated from ILHS in 2020 and is a freshman at Bowling Green State University, and Paige is a junior at ILHS.  We enjoy watching them play sports, dance and perform in the choir.

My door is always open to students, staff, parents, and community members so feel free to make an appointment or stop in any time...Together, we can make a difference!
