It's never too
early to start planning for the future!

Seventh graders from Indian Lake, Bellefontaine, Ben Logan, Calvary Christian, West Liberty and host Riverside Schools all had the opportunity recently to talk with representatives from more than 45 different professions working right here in Logan County.

Youth Liaison Karen Sorreles from the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center organized the third annual Logan County Career Day in conjunction with Shannon Reese from the Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce. She explains that extensive career exploration is now an important part of the required curriculum for middle school students.
Sorreles says, "
The goal of Career Day is for students to get hands-on exposure to well-known occupations, including many positions they may not have heard about or come in contact with in their daily routines."

Students had the chance to ask questions and get to know local people working in the areas of pharmacy, animal training, construction, engineering, law enforcement, firefighting, automotive, agriculture, cosmetology, broadcasting, sports therapy, various medical fields and much more. Students from Indian Lake Middle School were assigned to focus on at least seven different areas of interest. Students then interviewed the representatives, asking about typical work days, required education and what do they enjoy about their job?
