The ILMS Girls in Pearls are resolving to have a great 2024!
They met for the first time this year recently. After putting on their pearls and eating lunch, they wrote down some resolutions.
ILMS Guidance Counselor Mandy Tidwell challenged them to think about what would make life better as a sixth grade girl. They all agreed that reducing drama by treating others with respect and not gossiping about others would be ideal!
Great job, ladies!

The ILMS Girls in Pearls focused on the fine skills of etiquette during their latest luncheon.
Local business owner Jonelle Lewis of Luxe Salon in Lakeview spoke to the ladies.
She highlighted the importance of practicing etiquette in all situations, from the table to times of trouble.
Lewis brought each girl a thank you card and had them all write a note to someone in their life who deserves thanks. She discussed how special it can make a person feel when they receive a hand-written thank you. Lewis also told the girls that it's essential to greet people with a hello and a smile, especially in a business setting. Finally, they discussed keeping your cool and having manners, even when in a fight with a friend or loved one.

Girls In Pearls
The ILMS Girls in Pearls recently got some wonderful affirmation from a confident, young role model.
19-year old Summer Petrisko is Miss Teen Ohio Earth and a certified mindfulness teacher. She spoke to the ladies about always keeping a positive mindset.
Petrisko said it's about telling ourselves positive things, "My favorite saying is 'Hurt people hurt people.' You need to tell that girl in the mirror every day that she is worthy and she is important. And build each other up."
In an exercise, she had the girls write down one word about themselves. A few of them shared their words--insecure, worried and not good enough. Several of the ladies opened up about their anxieties as they make their way through middle school.
Petrisko said, "Whatever you tell yourself about yourself is what others will see. So tell yourself good words, good things!"
She also gave each girl an affirmation card and told them to stick them on their mirror and look at it daily.
Miss Petrisko is an online student and model who currently lives in Ada.

The ILMS Girls in Pearls are back and bursting at the seems! The ladies met for the first time during the 2023-24 school year recently and 25 sixth grade girls have opted to be a part of the group! That's ten more than last year and more than three times as many from the original group!

Tidwell passed out sets of plastic pearl necklaces, bracelets and earrings to each lady. The girls put on the jewelry, sometimes with help from a friend, to signify they are ready to begin.
During the first meeting, they dined together and played a "getting to know you" game with M&Ms. They also talked about how actual pearls are formed by small grains of sand that penetrate an oyster shell and become a thing of beauty and value.
