The ILMS Guys in Ties and Girls In Pearls teamed up for a fun lunch together before the holiday break.
They were joined by local business owners Amy and Ward Cartwright from the Costume Shop in Russells Point.
Amy is an Indian Lake alum, who was one of the first students ever to walk the halls of ILMS when it was built in the late 90s. Ward is originally from the Sidney area, but he loves living at Indian Lake and his new roll as Associate Pastor at the Cornerstone Church in Huntsville.
Amy revealed the real reason for bringing the Costume Shop to to Indian Lake.
"The Costume Shop is about bringing joy to our community! I just want people to leave with a smile and have fun while in that costume."
Ward urged students to take an active role in their community no matter where they go in life.
"Be plugged in to your community...help your community and celebrate the victories. And remember Kindness always wins!"
The Cartwrights gave each Guy and Girl a box of candy and another to share joy with someone new.
The ILMS Guys in Ties are back and ready to tie the knot!
They met recently for the first time this school year and discussed their mission. "Guys" leader, 6th grade Teacher Mr. Chris Burden, says they learned how to tie a Windsor knot for a traditional tie. They practiced on each other and by themselves.
Guys in Ties is a voluntary lunch time group for sixth grade boys that meets a few times a month to discuss manners, behaviors and habits of respected individuals. It is led by sixth grade teacher Mr. Chris Burden.
